All Choked Up

Lately, I’ve been having a big moment with chokers. Does anyone remember the friendship choker necklaces with your name from the 90’s? Good times, good times… I’d been looking for the perfect one for months and of course, found it on my favourite site Shopbop. This Jules Smith one is so simple and sleek and goes with basically anything.IMG_5732 IMG_5727I love how subtle it is but definitely adds a special touch to an outfit. It’s become a accessory staple, along with slouchy beanies. Hurrah for beanie season!! I picked these fuzzy things up in Sinsa in every colour they came in, ha ha.IMG_5716IMG_5728I kept the outfit monotonous as is my usual calling card. IMG_5722  Gotta admit though, winter is a great reason to pull out my ridiculous faux fur jacket 😉IMG_5717IMG_5737IMG_5723  Alright you crazy kids, that’s it for now! Come back and check out upcoming posts from my recent trip to L.A.!! Xoxo. (All images for Simply Ulee.)

Well, this is it! The last of the photos I raked through from our vacation in Vietnam. Feels like forever ago…….We spent our last few days in the wonderful Mui Ne. Lucked out with an amazing waterfront resort. Our room had a balcony which stared out onto the South China Sea. We woke up everyday to the sound of crashing waves and the smell of salt in the air.IMG_5065 IMG_5070

Hope you didn’t mind staring at variations of the same thing ha ha, but I just loved all these shots so much. Vietnam was such a beautiful place and I can’t wait to be back again one day. I can’t believe it’s already been 4 months. Time for the next adventure 😉 In fact, I leave for sunny California in 1.5 weeks!!

Be happy 🙂

Rawr

I’ve been MIA again but this time with a legitimate reason: I’ve been sick for about 1.5 months which is so strange because I’m never sick for longer than a week. It developed into bronchitis and I finally succumbed to going to a hospital and taking meds. Also, winter has officially hit which always leaves me feeling incredibly uninspired because it’s cold and all I want to do is bundle up in a million layers. Thankfully, this weekend was relatively mild and filled with sunlight so I stepped out for a quick shoot in my favourite sweatshirt by Kenzo 🙂IMG_5673 IMG_5668I know some people found these tiger sweatshirts a little cliche but I loved the embroidery and gave in to the branding -_- I really love how I can still be super comfortable without sacrificing style.IMG_5676 IMG_5688I kept the outfit neutral and simple with white jeans, a tan coat, and black accessories.IMG_5665 IMG_5669White jeans after labour day? I know, I know 😉IMG_5682Have a beautiful week everyone 🙂 Xoxo, Ula

Juxtapositions

I finally got to check out this South African restaurant in Seoul with a few girlfriends recently. It was a seriously chilly day, and I was super excited to pull out this fuzzy alpaca cardigan to keep me warm. It’s a great piece that’s going to come in handy all winter long. I picked it up in a small no-name boutique in Itaewon but you can find a similar one here :).

IMG_5612

IMG_5630

My hair was not behaving that day so I threw on this new rock chic fedora I scored from H&M for $35! I loved how the studded details gave a slight edge to my super casual outfit. It’s also a great substitution for the Anine Bing one I’ve been lusting over but can’t find offline in Seoul 😦 Add that to the L.A. shopping list too!

IMG_5623

IMG_5628

I seriously love this sweater so much, I even wear it to bed. I wish I had a fireplace because it would be the perfect thing to wear while roasting marshmallows and sipping on hot cocoa.

IMG_5603

I really have this thing for stripes and am always on the lookout for THAT perfect striped top. I’m super picky too as I’ve probably mentioned in other posts. I hate 3/4 sleeves, and I hate boat necks or when the hem hits at the wrong place and I only like certain types of stripes and colour variations….lol…… My absolutely favourite one is this one by T by Alexander Wang but you can never have too many striped tops, so I was happy to have found this one at Zara recently.

IMG_5617

I’m wearing one of my favourite pairs of cargos; they’re the “Houlihans” by J Brand which are sold out everywhere. I’ve had them for years but they’re so comfortable and a great fit and evidently great quality to have lasted all these years. I absolutely love ankle zippers, I don’t know why, I just do. Every pair of pants should have ankle zippers.

IMG_5615

IMG_5633

I love how the hat and runners juxtapose each other. I never thought I would be the kind of person who would wear sports shoes as part of an everyday outfit. But these Nike Flyknits are soo incredibly comfortable and since I walk everywhere, they’re definitely a necessity. In a weird way, they kind of go perfectly with the fedora.

Last of shorts weather

This is actually a lost post from last month; evidently so, since if I was still wearing shorts in November, I’d probably get hypothermia.

IMG_5347

I love these baggy ones from Zara; I love denim shorts in general – I basically live in them all summer long. I have quite a collection but my favourite ones are by One Teaspoon, Levis, and Ksubi.

IMG_5352

IMG_5358

IMG_5354

Excuse my cray-cray hair, it had been in a french braid – probably needed to have been a hat day, ha ha. Oh and can we just talk about these slip-ons? I bought them from Seed Heritage in Hong Kong back in March when it was still too cold in Seoul to wear them. But as soon as it warmed up, they became a high rotation item in my wardrobe. The leopard print adds some funk and they are a lazy person’s best friend.

IMG_5349

Oh I’m missing being able to go out like this 😦 I seriously hate cold weather. It’s not that bad yet but I know what’s coming soon…….

Til next time dear readers 🙂

Goodbye October

Just like that, Halloween came and passed and now it’s November and soon enough it’ll be the holiday season. Although my wardrobe is fairly muted to begin with, the winter season emanates my disinterest in colour even more so, ha ha.

IMG_5596

This was a casual outfit I wore to work last week featuring the coziest and super affordable cardigan from a Korean brand called “Jaju”, which to my knowledge only has a location on Garosugil.

IMG_5583

IMG_5593

I have this big issue with lengths of sleeves – I’m SO particular. I hate the 3/4 length and for the most part, I despise when it hits right at my wrist. Weird, I know. So this sweater is perfection for me; with its longer sleeves, pockets, wide lapel, and super soft wool.

IMG_5584

IMG_5587

I’ve been wearing my new Iro Edamy suede belt non-stop because it just goes with everything. And this criss-cross diamond ring adds a bit of bling to an otherwise sedated outfit. Add on my favourite new Balenciaga sunnies and I’m set for accessories – simplicity is best in my books 🙂

IMG_5582

Oh and these are my favourite Rag & Bone jeans. I can’t wait to go to L.A. in December and pick up a few more. They’re super hard to find here and way over-priced.

Seriously I’m the worst at keeping this blog updated -_- Life has been and is always so packed with this and that. But alas, let us reminisce about those blissful days in Vietnam. After Hanoi and Halong Bay, we headed to Hoi An and spent some amazing and unforgettable days in our private villa. It was so perfect and definitely my favourite part of the whole trip. There was photo ops at every corner with the beautiful beaches and lush greenery and sunshine-filled days. We gorged on fresh seafood and zipped around on our rented moped, exploring all the hidden pockets of this wonderful place. Being mostly in the pool or in the sea, there was very little need for clothing 😉IMG_4802IMG_4810

Layered up

The weather has been so beautiful for October and we’ve been blessed with sunshine almost everyday. But come fall, it’s time to layer up because mornings and evenings are too chilly for just a t-shirt but during the day it’s too hot to be bundled up in heavy sweaters.

IMG_5565

IMG_5569

My colour palette basically consists of black, white, blue, and shades of grey. It makes me feel put together to have a cohesive wardrobe and it’s easy to mix things up to create new outfits without needing to constantly buy new things.

IMG_5572

Recently, I’ve become pretty obsessed with dainty gold rings and layering them up. I went a little crazy on Shopbop during their 25% off event and also stumbled across this adorable handmade jewelry boutique in Seoul. Simple but elegant jewelry, paired with a flawless manicure can instantly pull your whole look together. It’s all in the subtle details 🙂

IMG_5561

IMG_5574

I wore this outfit for a busy day of running errands and meeting up with friends. The fitted blazer put a dressier aspect so that I could transition into dinner and evening drinks without looking too casual.

Hope you guys enjoy the photos and have a lovely week!! XoXo     IMG_5567 IMG_5577

Summer Scent

Jo Malone makes my favourite scent: Peony and Blush Suede. It’s long lasting and subtle and comes in the most beautiful box and bottle – I’m such a sucker for pretty packaging. I use the empties as vases or for storing sand from my travels. I also love their Vitamin E Lip Conditioner; it’s such a lifesaver for me especially in the winter time. Their products are a little pricey but I believe they’re worth it for the quality. By the way, this post is obviously belated since it’s titled “Summer Scent” because I completely forgot to publish it. Bad, bad, blogger.

Casual Sundays :)

And this is how a tomboy wears a mini skirt. I love this buttery soft leather one I scored a few months ago online but have never really gotten around to wearing it. What can I say? I’m just more of a jeans or shorts kind of girl.  IMG_5316

Today I paired it down with my favourite white sneakers, and a slouchy striped long sleeve. Topped if off with a Vince cargo jacket I’ve had for years – such a closet staple; and accessorized with my go-to Raybans, Michael Kors oversized watch and a panama hat.

IMG_5312 IMG_5320  IMG_5322

If you’re worried about how to make a leather mini work for daytime, have no fear! It’s such a versatile piece that you can definitely wear casual or dressed up. I could easily throw on a pair of strappy heels with a nice clutch for dinner or having a few drinks.

IMG_5317

And that’s a wrap! It’s BBQ time! I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!! P.S. Next time I’ll smile more haha.
